How to Connect With a Horse That's So Good He Actually Teaches You... and Gives You the Confidence to Enjoy Every Moment in the Saddle Without Spending a Fortune...

Ready to Experience the Ultimate Partnership With Your Horse?
Here's the Breakthrough You Need...

From Jake Lundahl

January 2023

Dear Horse Owner:

See this screenshot right here?

That's from an auction site listing the results of a premier Nevada horse sale just a few weeks ago.

Check out the final bid on this gelding...

Sold For $150,000.00 (1920 × 1080 px).jpg

The top ten horses in that sale averaged $62,000 apiece.

And the overall sale average? Just shy of $36,000

This lines up with what I've told my clients about the reality of today's horse market...

If you want a good horse between two and ten years old with decent breeding and a solid training foundation, be prepared to shell out AT LEAST thirty-five grand, if not closer to forty, just as a starting point.

And that adjustment happened FAST, too.  The industry was stagnant for 20 years before the coronavirus pandemic hit. Then almost overnight, horse prices exploded off the charts.

This new reality caught many by surprise. I remember in late 2021 here in Ohio, the high selling horse at an auction in Millersburg went for $150,000 and people were losing their minds....

“That’s way too high!”

“Who would pay THAT MUCH for a horse?!”

“This market is crazy!”

But here’s the thing…

I disagree.

I think these horses are CORRECTLY priced.

I’ll even argue $130k—$150k is a freaking BARGAIN for what you're really getting.

And if you think that’s crazy, I’d be happy to prove you wrong.

But first let me ask you a question…

Do you know WHY the horse market is so hot right now?

It’s not just in Nevada or Ohio. At big auctions and Futurity sales around the country, records are being SMASHED. Even horses with mediocre breeding and no show record are bringing 2-3x more than they did a year or two ago.

And it’s not because of “hype” or “inflation” or anything like that.

The answer is basic economics.

Now more than ever, people want and appreciate QUALITY HORSES.

Everyone is CLAMORING to get their hands on that “Steady Eddie” who’s broke as a joke with a been-there-done-that attitude. Buyers are more educated about what good training and temperament looks like, and there is zero tolerance for the shady wheeling-and-dealing that characterized sale barns in the past.

Horse buyers now insist on a quality product and supply can't keep up with demand.

Great horses are getting harder and harder to find...

And they’re more expensive now than they’ve ever been.

So the question remains…

What’s really fueling this GOLD RUSH despite all the doom and gloom we've been hearing about the economy on the news?

Why are so many people suddenly willing to invest BIG $$$ in a well-trained horse?

What’s the angle?

These buyers know something others don't —

They're not paying for the horse!

— (in fact they’re effectively getting the horse for FREE!)

Here’s what they’re REALLY shelling out the big bucks for:

  • The hundreds, thousands, if not TENS OF THOUSANDS of hours of training that someone poured into that horse.

  • The comfort and peace of mind knowing that their horse is quiet, safe and trustworthy.

  • The countless stress-free hours they’ll spend in the saddle without fighting bad habits or behavior problems.

  • The sense of joy and fulfillment they get just by spending time with their dream horse.

Best of all, they’re getting a horse so skilled and capable, it will literally TEACH THE HUMAN on its back to be a better rider…

… catapulting their horsemanship skills and confidence to new heights…

… and unlocking dreams they previously didn’t know they had.

That’s the REAL VALUE in having a well trained horse.

You're buying a 10-year shortcut to your horsemanship goals.

With the right investment you can look forward to greater fun and success in your horsemanship for the next DECADE or more.

With one decision, you get to skip all the years of bullshit...

All the years of frustration, pain, hospital bills, wasted time, and wasted money that MOST horse owners have to struggle through before they finally start getting results.

You're not buying a horse. You're buying TIME.

Time is the most precious commodity there is. Once it's spent, it's gone. No refunds.

So the question to ask yourself is, how much is 10 years worth to you?

$40k? $80k? $150k? Can you even put a price on it? It's worth considering.

These are the kinds of decisions I help people work through every day as a professional trainer.

I'll tell you a quick story:

A few years ago a client of mine named Tim hired me for a private lesson to work on his riding.

To call Tim a “green rider” at the time would be an understatement. In fact he’d barely cantered a horse in his life. The first time I helped him lope his old mare around the round pen, the horse was just quietly plodding along…

Nothing dangerous was happening…

But Tim was white-knuckling the saddle horn and yelling with fright! His granddaughter was watching and went running to the house screaming,

“That trainer is trying to kill Grandpa!!”

It was a tense couple of minutes....

But by the end of the session Tim had relaxed somewhat. He was consistently loping on a loose rein but still required a firm grip on the horn. He had no “independent seat” whatsoever.

In other words, he couldn’t balance unless he was clutching the saddle and gripping the horse with his legs.

Tim had a long way to go toward becoming a better horseman.

To get where he wanted to be, he’d have to spend many more hours in the saddle. But the horses he owned at the time were making that nearly impossible.

Aside from his 20-year-old mare (who couldn’t handle the intense daily riding he needed), Tim owned a couple geldings that were…. well…. how do I say this?

Just awful. Poor foundation, nasty attitudes, stiff as a board... a penchant for bucking and rearing under saddle. And such rough movers, you’d lose your lunch if you loped them for too long.

I’m talking bone-jarring, brain-pan-rattling ROUGH!

Not ideal for a green rider who’s trying to build their confidence.

Unsurprisingly, Tim wasn’t very enthusiastic about saddling up every day. Fear and pain had always outweighed any possible benefit from riding his horses. And even if he kept them “rode down” and loped the snot out of them every single day, they honestly weren’t capable of getting much better than they already were.

That’s why I made the case to Tim that he needed better horses — with a better foundation— if he was EVER going to ride at his desired level.

So he made two big decisions:

First, he sent me one of his horses to train.

She was a four-year-old mare with minimal handling, but she had potential and better breeding than the others. She would go through my 8-week colt starting program. If she had any talent, he’d keep her in training and develop her to the highest possible level.

Second, he sent me out on the road to find a great horse for him.

I found an 8-year-old gelding that was lazy, quiet, good-natured, and had plenty of nonpro showing experience — for under $40,000.00

Now the real fun could begin!

Fast forward two years later, and Tim is SHOWING competitively in the NRCHA on both horses.

No joke.

A guy who was once scared to lope, is now confidently hauling ass down the fence at reined cowhorse shows...

He’s trail riding with his family…

He’s hosting cuttings and herd work practices with his friends...

And is just having an all-around BLAST riding his horses.

By the way if you want to see Tim’s mare that went through my training program, we made a promotional video with her here.

Tim’s story is one of MANY similar client stories I could share, and they all prove something I’ve preached in my training business for years:

Great things happen when you invest in a horse that will TEACH YOU.

That’s the dream I wish MORE horse owners could experience.

See, those who don’t know any better have this false notion that they’re going to “learn along with their horse”...

…and go on this “beautiful journey of learning and self-discovery” together.

Presumably that journey follows the Yellow Brick Road and ends at the Emerald City…

Because it’s a FANTASY!!

It NEVER works out that way.

How do I know?

Because my career literally revolves around helping people -- and their horses -- extract themselves from the broken wreckage of these misguided dreams and find a better path forward.

I see the same story over and over:

  • Aspiring horse owner has a goal.

  • Aspiring owner buys green, young, inexperienced, rescue, or problem horse.

  • Aspiring owner believes that they’ll go on amazing journey of learning and bonding together…

...and somehow achieve success, and end up at a higher level than either of them have ever been in their lives...

Somehow — with no experience and often no budget — they’re going to “Moneyball” this thing and recreate Gunner or Smart Chic Olena “in the aggregate”.

Is it possible?

Technically, yes.

But so is winning the lottery. The probability of which is so statistically insignificant that it’s not worth mentioning.

What's more likely is:

  • Years of frustration and struggle, often culminating in a big wreck or injury.

  • The journey back to some semblance of progress and achievement becoming 10x harder, because of all the baggage and poor habits to contend with.

  • Tens of thousands of dollars being spent to fix the problem… that could’ve been spent on a better horse or better training to start with.

That’s where too many horse owners end up.

But here’s the kicker:

All of this is 100% AVOIDABLE.

There’s an old saying that’s like a Golden Rule of horsemanship:

“FIRST, horses teach people. THEN, people teach horses.”

In other words,

The best way to learn is by riding a horse with more experience and education than you currently have.

You can either buy one that’s already trained, or pay someone else to train it for you.

That well-trained horse will then teach you what things SHOULD feel like, and help fill in the gaps where your own timing and cues might be inconsistent.

In turn — once your feel and timing are good enough and you can replicate those results —  you can start riding and training other horses that have less experience. Because you now have the knowledge to bring them along CORRECTLY.

In an ideal world, that’s how EVERYONE would pursue horsemanship.

But the brutal reality is that most people do the exact OPPOSITE of this.

They think they can reinvent the wheel.

They think they can “cheat the system”.

Yet sooner or later they end up burnt out, frustrated or hurt — with a barn full of half-broke horses.

But there IS A BETTER WAY!

As I said before,

You’ve got two options if you want to TURBOCHARGE your horsemanship skills and confidence:

Option 1: Buy a horse that’s already trained to a high level.

Option 2: Pay someone else to train your horse to a high level.

And if you’re leaning toward Option 2…

If you’re not ready to blow up your retirement account with a high-five-figure or low-six-figure horse in the current market…

If you’d rather not burn hundreds of hours, and thousands of dollars, while risking serious injury trying to train your own horse from scratch…

And if you already own a horse that has the potential to be a GREAT fit for what you’re looking to accomplish…

Then I’m speaking DIRECTLY to you now.

Do you want a horse that's quiet, safe, respectful and willing?

A horse you can show one weekend and take trail riding the next? A horse who’s as happy with ponying the grandkids as he is with sorting cattle or showing in the ranch riding class?

A well-rounded partner who will teach you and take you to a higher level of horsemanship?

If the answer is YES, then we should talk...

If you're looking for a way to invest in your horse's future, realize their full potential, and make both of your lives better,

I’d love to help make that happen for you.

We are professional horsemen Jake and Amy Lundahl.

And the thing we love most — above all else — is helping people achieve things they never thought possible with their horses. Young, Old, Beginner, Expert, Western, English . . . we've worked with them all.

More confidence in the saddle? Being connected to a soft, responsive, willing horse that makes riding feel like flying? These are not "unobtainable" goals for only the top 1%...

They can be the starting point — the foundation for a new lifelong partnership you and your horse deserve.

That's what this program is all about.

When you say "YES"  to the Dream Horse Academy, you get the future you want.

If you're like most horse owners we work with, you want these four outcomes:

Safety: You want to get your horse out of the stall, groom him, love on him, and saddle him up with zero stress or drama.

Connection: You want to have a great ride where everything just "clicks" — you know exactly what to do, and the right way to ask for it.

Confidence: You want to do the same thing again... and again... and again, every day you can spend with your horse.

Fulfillment: You want to enjoy the confidence, freedom and flexibility this new and better partnership offers... for the rest of your life.

So, how and when does this become your reality?

It begins on your Lesson Day.

You arrive at Noble Farm bright-eyed 'n' bushy-tailed, wearing your most comfortable jeans and favorite pair of boots.

You walk in the barn and see your horse for the first time since his training began 8 weeks ago.

He's resting comfortably in his stall — clean, shiny, even a bit more muscular than when you last saw him. He looks like a million dollars. You walk in the stall to greet him, and he nickers softly in recognition. You give him a kiss and pet him as he quietly munches from a hay net.

Now it's time to see what your "new" horse knows. We halter him up, lead him out to the arena, and briefly demonstrate the most important groundwork skills your horse has learned. Then we turn the horse over to you, and guide you through performing these same exercises yourself.

After the groundwork session, it's time to saddle up and ride...

You feel a mix of excitement and nerves as you prepare to mount your horse.

You've been looking forward to this moment for months, but you're also not quite sure what to expect. This is the first time you've ridden your horse since his training began, and you're eager to see what he's learned.

Once in the saddle and ready, you take a deep breath and give your horse a gentle squeeze with your heels. He responds immediately, moving forward on a loose rein at a smooth and steady pace.

You can tell he's way more responsive and attentive than before. He's softer, more relaxed, and he understands and follows your cues much easier.

You have a new level of connection with him. The butterflies in your stomach disappear.

You feel more at ease with each passing minute.

You continue to put the horse through his paces — walking, trotting and cantering on a loose rein, guiding him through a series of turns and transitions, even trying out a few obstacles to test his responsiveness and agility. He performs each exercise well, staying smooth and relaxed.

As you ride, we're right there with you — providing guidance and encouragement, helping you work on your own skills as well as your horse's. We offer tips and advice on how to stay balanced, improve your feel and timing, and communicate more effectively with your horse.

After a few hours of riding in the arena and out on the trails, you're both feeling tired but satisfied. You dismount and give your horse a well-deserved pat on the neck, grateful for all the progress he's made. You know that you still have things to learn and work on, but you're excited to continue your journey together.

With the Dream Horse Academy you get more than just "training"...

You get a lifetime support system too.

As the lesson comes to a close, your horse is untacked, groomed and cooled off, and goes back to his stall to eat and rest.

Then we head to the lounge area of the barn where we sit down with you and go over our "Success Kit". This includes a detailed summary of everything your horse has learned during his training, and a personalized game plan for maintaining his skills and fitness at home.

There’s also information on how to access our online training platform, which includes horsemanship videos, articles, and training resources, as well as a virtual coaching feature where you can ask questions and submit riding videos for feedback.

All this information and support ensures that:

1. Your horse doesn't regress because you know how to maintain his training at home.

2. You don't forget what you learned during the lesson.

3. You have the resources and tools you need to keep getting better.

4. You have an instant, direct line to us if you ever have questions or get stuck.

Finally, to cap off a great day of horsemanship, we all head to a famous local BBQ place to celebrate. After an evening of delicious food and great conversation, you head back to your hotel room and sink into the soft bed, exhausted but content.

And the best part?

That was just DAY ONE...

Day One of an amazing new partnership you'll enjoy for many years to come.

Tomorrow you'll be hauling your horse back home, and you're excited to get started on your next adventure together. You fall asleep with a smile on your face, knowing that you and your horse are on the road to success.

Dream Horse Academy unlocks this future for you.

And here's how it works:

To get started, you just use the calendar at the bottom of this page to book a quick info call with Jake or Amy. It's super simple and easy.

This call is your opportunity to dig into the training format, share details about your horse and what you're looking to accomplish, and discover if our program is a good fit. If it is, we'll discuss next steps and how to confirm your horse's spot in the program.

After that, we'll create an account for you on our platform where documents, communication and your horse's training update videos will be shared. You'll use it to stay in the loop, follow your horse's progress, and get an in-depth look at our training program as you prepare for your lesson day.

And finally, when your lesson day arrives, you'll travel to Noble Farm in Newbury, Ohio to enjoy the ultimate horsemanship experience.

To sum up, here's everything you get:

Horse Training: 2.5 hours per day, 6 days a week, for 8 weeks.

Accomodation: World class care, nutrition, farrier and veterinary services for your horse.

Hospitality: Help with travel, horse transport and scheduling.

Communication: Update calls, emails, and videos detailing your horse's progress.

Lesson Day: Full day lesson with your horse at our farm ($900 value alone).

Membership & Support: Courses and videos plus lifetime coaching ($1700 value alone).

There's also the added value of the horse to consider. As a result of this program your horse will have a complete foundation and level of training that puts them well above industry standard "broke" horses selling for $30,000 or more. Today's market is starving for well-trained horses 2-7 years old, and with this foundation on your horse, you'll be holding a precious asset that will always be in demand. Take great care of him, and he'll hold that value for the next 15-20 years.

Success starts here.

If you want a training program that gets transformational results — schedule a call using the calendar below, and we'll be in touch.
